Redemption Frank Turner

Brilliant and heart-breaking.

One of my favorites.

So glad I had the pleasure of meeting this man.

Turning the record over; Brian Fallon & The Gaslight Anthem

In twenty, thirty years from now the giants and pioneers of rock n’ roll will be gone. It’s hard to imagine our living music legends finally fading from their decades of glory. Goodbye Jagger. See yah ‘round McCartney. So long, Springsteen. What will come of rock n’ roll when these guys aren’t around anymore? Has rock already died? I don’t think so. In fact, I think the torch as already been passed. As long as Brian Fallon and The Gaslight Anthem are around, the fiery embers that burn at the core of rock n’ roll will never be put out (okay, that was cheesy, but so were the ‘80’s).

Brian Fallon may be just another blue-collar boy from Jersey who grew up with a chip on his shoulder and a Born To Run kind of life, but he makes a point to transcend his Springsteen parallels. Of course Bruce is amongst his idols, but so are punk-rock greats such as Social Distortion and Pearl Jam, as well as Motown legends like Sam Cooke. Gaslight has opened up new realms of music for me, music that has gotten lost over the years, clouded by trendy, mainstream music. What I wouldn’t give to hear ‘Twistin’ the Night Away’ on any given local radio station. That’s where The Gaslight Anthem champions. They’re sound has mass appeal; it’s not over-produced or bubblegum-ified, it’s honest, soulful, and so damn good. They have all the potential in the world to be the rock n’ roll’s saving grace.

While Gaslight are still relatively under the radar, their latest single ‘45’ been receiving awesome radio attention and drawing in tons of new, excited fans. Their fourth album release, already titled ‘Handwritten’ is due out July 24 in the States.

When you’re favorite band is on the verge of making it big, it’s as trilling as it is bittersweet. I’m not ready to share them with the world, but everybody needs to know who The Gaslight Anthem are. They’re gunna save your rock n’ roll soul.

P.S. - Frank Turner, the acoustic rock Messiah. I still believe.

Backstreets Bruce Springsteen

…you swore we’d live forever,

taking it on them backstreets together.
